We are a professional manufacturer of precious metal recovery equipment. Blister copper electrorefining is the core process to produce high-purity electrolytic copper, and it is also a key route to extract associated precious metals such as gold and silver. Many copper smelting and secondary copper enterprises only focus on electrolytic copper output while ignoring the value of anode slime at the bottom of electrolytic cells. We provide complete sets of supporting equipment for copper electrolysis and precious metal extraction from anode slime, helping customers efficiently recover gold, silver and rare precious metals from anode slime during electrolytic copper production to maximize the comprehensive benefits of projects.
Core Differences Between Blister Copper and Electrolytic Copper
Blister copper is a semi-finished copper material cast after converter blowing of copper concentrate or copper-bearing solid waste, with a copper content of about 98.5%. It has a rough surface and internal pores, containing impurities such as iron, zinc, gold and silver. Blister copper cannot be directly used in high-end electrical and conductive materials. It must go through further electrolytic refining to obtain high-purity electrolytic copper.
Electrolytic copper (copper cathode) is high-purity metallic copper obtained by electrolytic purification with blister copper cast into anode plates. The electrolysis system adopts a mixed electrolyte of sulfuric acid and copper sulfate. When power is applied, copper in the blister copper anode dissolves into copper ions and is reduced and precipitated as pure copper on the cathode plate.
- Impurity metals more active than copper (iron, zinc) dissolve into the electrolyte. Potential control can prevent these ions from precipitating on the cathode.
- Inert precious metals such as gold and silver do not dissolve and settle directly at the bottom of electrolytic cells to form anode slime.
Anode slime is a highly valuable by-product in the copper electrolysis process, enriched with gold, silver and other precious metals. It serves as an important raw material for precious metal recovery. With professional recovery equipment, gold, silver, platinum, palladium and other precious metals can be separated and purified from anode slime, greatly improving the profit margin of copper smelting projects.
The produced electrolytic copper features high purity and excellent electrical conductivity. It is widely used in wires and cables, electrical components, and new energy conductive parts. Electrolytic copper can also be further processed into dendritic electrolytic copper powder, which is applied in diamond tools, conductive ink, powder metallurgy, electric carbon products and friction materials.
Supplementary note: Heat dissipation comparison of copper materials Among copper and copper alloys, higher copper purity brings better heat dissipation performance. Pure copper (electrolytic copper / red copper) has the highest purity and outperforms brass and bronze in heat dissipation. Besides material grade, structural design, surface area and heat dissipation assembly also exert great influence on the overall heat dissipation effect.

Brief Classification of Metallic Minerals
Metallic minerals are divided into four categories according to their composition, properties and applications: ferrous metal minerals, non-ferrous metal minerals, precious metal minerals, and rare, rare-earth and dispersed element minerals. Copper belongs to non-ferrous metal minerals; gold, silver and platinum group metals are precious metal minerals. Natural copper ores are mostly associated with gold and silver, which explains why copper electrolysis anode slime can enrich precious metals.

Conclusion
Blister copper is only an intermediate semi-finished product. After electrolytic refining, high-value electrolytic copper can be obtained on one hand, and anode slime rich in gold and silver is produced on the other hand. Previously, many factories sold anode slime at low prices for cash. Now with professional precious metal recovery equipment, gold and silver can be extracted on-site to maximize resource value.
